Effect profile
Linalool in the cannabis context
Linalool is the main component of lavender and the anti-anxiety terpene above all others. With a score of 2.5 it carries the strongest anxiolytic effect in the whole set. Lavender has been a classic calming agent for centuries, and linalool is the active compound behind it.
Linalool promotes sleep through the body's own GABA system (score 2.0). At 1.5 each it also shows mood-lifting, pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. Focus, activation or appetite are not a linalool profile. It is clearly a sedative terpene.
In cannabis, linalool typically appears in indica-leaning strains like LA Confidential or Granddaddy Purple, usually as a secondary or tertiary terpene. You recognize it by the floral, lavender-like aroma. Higher linalool levels signal a calming effect profile.
