          How to use the filters

          Quick guide

The filters work as building blocks: search by preset effects, include or exclude individual terpenes, and build your own effect profile from there. Every terpene has a profile page with the research behind it.

          1. Pick an effect. Click one of the six effect tiles above (sleep, mood, focus, relaxation, pain, inflammation). Strains sort by how well they fit. Click again to deselect. Click a second tile to mix 70/30.

          2. THC range. The slider caps potency. For lighter strains, pull the maximum down.

          3. City. Pharmacies in your city with local pickup. Leave it empty to compare across Germany.

          4. Prescription only via. If you already have a prescription on one platform, pick that platform and see only the strains available there. Default: all platforms.

          5. Available. “Yes” shows only strains in stock on at least one platform right now. “All strains” also shows sold-out and watch-listed ones.

          6. Sorting. By fit (score) or by price per gram. It sits right above the strain list.

          7. Show. How many matches load at once. Need more? The “Show more” button at the end of the list loads the rest.

          8. Terpene filter (the accordion below the filter bar). Narrow strains further by individual terpenes. Three modes: All (the strain must contain all selected), Any (at least one), None (none of the selected). This lets you build your own effect profile beyond the six presets.

          Common questions

          FAQ · patient questions
Which cannabis strains are available by prescription in German pharmacies?

German pharmacies currently carry every prescribable medical cannabis strain that can be prescribed through the relevant telemedicine platforms such as Grünhorn, GreenMedical, MCOS, flowzz, Weed.de, CannGo, Dr.Ansay, Privatrezept.net, and CanDoc. Strains differ in THC and CBD content, terpene profile, and availability. terpen.cloud shows the full list, sortable and filterable by effect, individual terpenes, city, and availability.

How do I find the cheapest pharmacy for my prescribed strain?

Platforms like flowzz, Weed.de, CannGo, or Dr.Ansay each show only their own pharmacy network. terpen.cloud aggregates every relevant platform and its connected pharmacies at once and gives you the genuinely lowest price per strain, in euros per gram. You look up the strain from your prescription and see every available pharmacy sorted by price, optionally including shipping and prescription fees.

What are terpenes and how do they affect the body?

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds in the cannabis plant, and they shape its smell, taste, and effect. Studies (Russo 2011, Hutchison 2024) show that THC effects are strongly terpene-mediated, the so-called entourage effect. Linalool (lavender aroma) tends to calm, α-pinene (pine aroma) tends to sharpen focus and cognition, β-caryophyllene (pepper aroma) eases pain through the CB2 receptor, and β-myrcene is sedating. terpen.cloud rates strains by their terpene profile and the research behind it.

Which cannabis strain helps with sleep problems?

For trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, strains high in β-myrcene, linalool, or nerolidol show sedating effects in the literature. terpen.cloud calculates a sleep score per strain from the terpene profile, sorts matches from high to low, and shows the lowest pharmacy price. Filter: Sleep. For daytime-friendly profiles without a hangover, also pick a lower THC range.

Which cannabis strain for chronic pain?

For chronic, neuropathic, or inflammatory pain, β-caryophyllene activates the CB2 receptor and is considered both anti-inflammatory and analgesic. β-myrcene is also linked to analgesia in the peer-reviewed literature, with α-humulene and α-bisabolol rounding out the profile. terpen.cloud sorts by pain score and puts available strains at the top. Filter: Pain. Cannabis is rarely a first-line treatment for pain, but it is an option as adjunct therapy on prescription.

Which cannabis strain for daytime focus without sedation?

For mental clarity, alertness, concentration, and cognitive performance, nine terpenes contribute positively to the focus score, led by 1,8-cineole (a human cognition study) and α-pinene (the classic wakefulness terpene). Strains with these terpenes and low β-myrcene suit daytime use. Strongly sedating strains are actively pushed down in the focus filter. Filter: Focus.

Which cannabis strain for anxiety, stress, or restlessness?

For anxiety, stress, or inner restlessness, strains high in β-caryophyllene and linalool with moderate β-myrcene show anxiolytic effects. β-caryophyllene modulates stress through CB2 without heavy sedation. terpen.cloud filters these profiles under Relaxation. If you want to fully wind down, combine Relaxation with Sleep as a secondary effect.

Which cannabis strain for low mood?

Mood-lifting effects are attributed in the literature mainly to limonene (the citrus terpene) and β-caryophyllene. Strains high in limonene and low in β-myrcene tend to lift rather than sedate. terpen.cloud filters by Mood. Note: with a diagnosed depression, cannabis is not a first-line treatment, only an adjunct after medical evaluation.

          Which cannabis strain for inflammation?

Anti-inflammatory effects are attributed in the literature mainly to β-caryophyllene, a selective CB2 agonist. α-bisabolol (the chamomile terpene) and α-humulene contribute secondarily. terpen.cloud filters by Inflammation and puts strains with high CB2 activity at the top. For chronic inflammatory conditions, cannabis is rarely a first-line treatment, but it is an option as adjunct therapy on prescription.

Is the indica/sativa distinction still meaningful?

Pharmacologically, no. Current research (Russo 2011, McPartland 2018) shows the effect profile depends on the terpene and cannabinoid profile, not on the botanical labels indica, sativa, or hybrid. Two strains both labeled indica can work in opposite directions, depending on the terpene mix. terpen.cloud deliberately drops the indica/sativa axis as an effect predictor and sorts by a terpene-based score.

Which platforms does terpen.cloud compare, and how current are the prices?

Currently aggregated: Grünhorn, GreenMedical, MCOS, flowzz, Weed.de, CannGo, Dr.Ansay, Privatrezept.net, and CanDoc, plus their connected pharmacies. 1,500+ pharmacies in one comparison. Pharmacies are checked several times a day. Strains with outdated prices or availability are hidden.

          How we rate

For each strain we calculate six effect scores from the terpene profile and our editorially maintained effect matrix. The scale runs from 0 to 10 and is calibrated per effect. Opposing profiles show up clearly: for focus, sedating terpene patterns are weighted down, and for sleep it is the other way around.

THC is not a positive factor in the score. A higher THC level does not automatically mean more focus, more sleep, or more relaxation. THC stays visible as a dose, intensity, and risk factor, and you can steer it with the filter.

If the six preset effects are too broad for you, build your own effect profile with the terpene filter. Every terpene has a profile page with the research and effects behind it, so you can find strains for your own needs.
